Fitness Is Fun!

Excitement fills the gym everyday after school at Dunnville Secondary School (D.S.S.) as girls get ready for their daily workout. Girls Fitness Club has started at D.S.S. Many new clubs have arose this year at D.S.S. and Girls Fit Club is one of many.
Everyday after school, about 30 female students get together and participate in many various activities including circuit training, weight cage, a walk or run and many more. Girls even participated in Zumba on Monday, September 19th. When asked why this club was started, Ms. Renata Dykstra said, “Girls were talking about doing something and I wanted something different.”
Fitness is important to everyone. It is recommended that children and teenagers get a least 60 minutes of physical activity each day. Physical activity helps build and maintain muscles, bones and joints, helps to prevent high blood pressure, and reduces the risk of heart problems.
Girls Fit Club was recommended by Dykstra to all female students because you can work at your own pace and all fitness levels. This week Girls Fit Club will have a Cardio Boot Camp, weight training, circuit training, and a walk or run. If anyone is interesting in joining, they can come anytime after school. Listen for announcements to know where to go.
