It is that time of year when female athletes from Dunnville Secondary School (D.S.S.) come together to demonstrate their skill at tryouts. Girls Basketball is one of the first sports of the year at D.S.S. and is greatly anticipated by all who compete.
After the teams are finalized, D.S.S. girls will be playing against other Secondary Schools in the Haldimand County District, including McKinnon Park Secondary School (M.P.S.S.) and Hagersville Secondary School (H.S.S.). However, things will be quite different this year due to Cayuga Secondary School’s (C.S.S.) lack of participation.
The junior girls basketball coach Ms. Priestman, and the senior girls basketball coach Mr. Preston, were very pleased with the turnout. Twenty-one juniors and 17 seniors flooded the D.S.S. gymnasium last week. “A lot of good athletes are trying out,” said D.S.S. teacher and senior girls’ Coach Andrew Preston. “I’m very excited for this season; it will be a lot of fun!”
