New Technology @ DSS!

Technology reigns at DSS! Grand Erie District School Board has begun transforming the classroom experience by providing the teachers with a unique way of presenting their material! Each classroom will be equipped with Smartboards/whiteboards and eight Netbooks. By introducing new technology into daily teaching and learning, the school board hopes for improved student achievement.
The new touch screen Smartboards are designed to be easily written on, like a whiteboard, but also have the power of a computer including access to the Internet. It presents endless possibilities for presentations and lesson planning. For easy student access, the new Netbooks, much like a mini laptop, give students the opportunity to follow along with lessons that include a helpful website or a useful program.
The Math department was the first to embark on this new technology journey. "I like using the Smartboard in the classroom," Andrew Preston, head of the Math department, stated. "I like being able to present the material in a different way. The more we use it, the more helpful we find it."
This is just the beginning of the Educational Technology Initiative for all grades of the Grand Erie School Board. For more information on this initiative, you can read more about it on the board’s website at
