A new club has started this week at Dunnville Secondary School (DSS) called the “Nerd Club” led by teacher Jan St. Denis. The first meeting of the Nerd Club was Thursday, September 15 in room 133 at DSS, and 20 people showed up.
St. Denis said, “The Nerd Club is a place for people who like nerdy things, who meet together with other people who like the same stuff.” The biggest part of the Nerd Club is talking about nerdy things, but they also watch TV shows, play role-playing games, and play card games. The Nerd Club is open to anyone who likes nerdy things.
In answering why he started the club, St. Denis replied, “Because I’m a nerd, and there are lots of other students in this school who are nerds, and this makes them feel like they belong to a club.”
So, if you’re a Trekkie, a Star Wars or Stargate fan, you like The Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit, (the movies or books), you enjoy role-playing games like Dungeons and Dragons, or watching nerdy TV shows like the Big Bang Theory, then maybe you should join the Nerd Club.
