What better way is there to spend a chilly September afternoon than watching exuberant, spirited students attempt to shove as many people into an automobile as possible? Coming out on top of this superb event was none other than the hometown favourite, Cayuga, with Dunnville and Hagersville rounding out the top three. This was just one of the many functions held at Haldimand Motors that made the 14th annual Great Tricycle Race such a resounding success once again.
After failing to claim victory in last year's competition, Dunnville Secondary School made their return to Haldimand Motor's Great Tricycle Race with high hopes. Their objective was to cram more school mates into a car than their competitors. Standing in their way was Hagersville Secondary School (H.S.S.), McKinnon Park Secondary School (M.P.S.S.), as well as hometown Cayuga Secondary School (C.S.S.). The teams went neck and neck the entire contest, trying desperately to stay ahead of the rest of the pack. The crowd was very responsive to this intense battle!
When all was said and done, C.S.S. edged out H.S.S. to take the victory, 26-24. D.S.S. came in a close third, packing 23 people into their vehicle. Bringing up the rear was M.P.S.S. with a final score of 22. "Basically, all the crowd was super ecstatic about the close results," said a spectator, Elijah Wilding. "It was a great time had by all!" D.S.S participants are excited and highly motivated to receive brighter outcomes next year.
