The Dunnville Panthers have shown their commitment to the team with early morning practices twice a week, as well as an awesome lead to the season with their last win against Hagersville Secondary (HSS), the first time the Panthers had beaten them in 6 years.
The Cayuga Warriors really made the Panthers take a step back as they beat the girls 44-33 in their home gym. “Cayuga was definitely a strong test for our team,” said coach Andrew Preston. “They had a size advantage as well as a strong aggressive defence.”
Improvement was shown from the DSS girls this game with more aggression as well as good rebounding skills. The Panthers started off well, but the Warriors had them with faster plays and a good defence, keeping them ahead in the game.
The early win against Hagersville and the recent loss to Cayuga really keeps the season up in the air as to how well the Panthers will do. The next game on October 13th against Caledonia will really determine if the girls can keep their head in the game and come through.
