At on Friday October 15, 2011 an announcement rang out through the halls at Dunnville Secondary School (DSS) congratulating the Girls Field Hockey Team for a job well done in their game that morning against Hagersville. Though the game was lost, the Dunnville Panthers played extremely well, giving the Hurricanes a run for their money.
The game started at . Hagersville maintained possession of the ball for some time and managed to score in the first half. Dunnville fought back hard, and was determined not to let Hagersville score again.
In the second half of the game, Dunnville started with a resolve to score. Possession of the ball went back and forth between the two teams until the last five minutes of play. Dunnville had possession of the ball and moved it deep into the Hagersville end. The Panthers went wild with excitement when they managed to get a short corner.
Though the Panthers gave it their all, the ball never found its way into the back of the Hurricanes' net. DSS was, however, rewarded with the closest finishing score this season. The game ended at around 10:40 AM with a one-nothing score for Hagersville.
“We all worked really hard and our efforts were paid off with a really close game,” said the Captain of the team, Kim Visser. Visser was very proud of the girls on the team for a job well done.
