Waking up at 6:00AM and heading off to school for a one and a half hour Volleyball practice, then heading to the showers to prepare for another school day. Getting changed after the final bell and heading to the gym area for an hour on horseback. Heading to town after the sun goes down for a Zumba class, then accomplishing all of the night's homework before heading off to bed. This is just one day in the life of Paige Williams, a grade twelve Dunnville Secondary School (DSS) student who is one of the school's cherished athletes.
Williams is an ambitious young adult who is dedicated to staying physically fit, to any sports team she joins, and to having fun. On average, Williams spends about 18.5 hours each week participating in one physical activity or another, and she loves it. Williams attends Zumba classes, Fit Club, she is on the DSS Senior Girls Volleyball Team (whose tryouts just ended), and was on the Senior Girls Basketball Team (whose season just came to a close). In her spare time, Williams works out on her own or with friends, and enjoys horseback riding on a regular basis.
Williams does not only preserve in physical activities, but does well in school also. Williams has managed to maintain good marks in her classes while juggling school and her extracurricular activities. It is for these reason that Williams has been chosen to be the athlete of the week. Williams is extremely dedicated to her health and education, demonstrated by not only participating in school ports and clubs and doing her best to hand in high quality school work on time, but also looking after her own bodily health in her own time as well.
Williams has always had an interest in sports and being physically active, as well as in the great outdoors. She played soccer as a kid, and has been 'out and about' on horseback for many years. Williams is a phenomenal athlete demonstrating abilities in many vital areas that are a must for any strong athlete, from cardio vascular endurance to agility to brute strength. It is not only the use of these kinds of physical energies that come hand in hand with any sport.
"Besides the adrenaline rush and the sport itself, I love playing with a good group of girls. The team bond and friendships you make are awsome," said Williams when asked what she loved most about sports.
Since Williams' recent acceptance onto the DSS Senior Girls Voleyball Team, her main focus has been and will remain on the Team and her participation on it until the end of the season. She was very excited that she had made the team and wants to do her best to make this her best and most fun season yet. When asked what her predictions for the season were, Williams reasoned that there are a lot of new girls on the team this year that she had never played wiht before so it is hard to say anything about what the team's furture holds. For the most part, Williams is anticipating a fun season and looks forward to seeing what the new team will bring to the table.
