DSS Halfway Through Semester One

By James Dunnville Secondary School (DSS) is halfway there!! At DSS, the first half of semester one came to a close as of November 9. Over the first half of the semester, the DSS student council held many successful events such as the Welcome Back dance that occurred in September, as well as the Halloween dance on October 31.

In early September, DSS took place in the event "How Many Students Can You Fit In a Car" at Haldimand Motor's Great Tricycle Race. This event was a competition of local high schools to see how many students could fit into a car in one minute. DSS placed third in this event, winning about $200.

In late September, DSS participated in Caledonia Fair's High school Challenge, where the local high schools competed in various events.  With their strength, skill and teamwork, DSS placed second.

Last but not least there was the Magazine Campaign that ran for three weeks in October where DSS students sold magazines to raise money for funding of future school events and sporting teams.  DSS raised $18 523.54.

In the next half of the semester, students can expect other events, such as the up and coming Sugar Rush Week at the end of November, the Semi Formal Dance and the 12 Days of Christmas beginning in early December, and the Annual Christmas Concert taking place right before the holidays.
