Ruigrok is Co-op Student of the Week

By James This week's Co-op Student of the Week is Jennifer Ruigrok. She is a current student in Dunnville Secondary school in Grade 12. Her career ambition is to do Physiotherapy. Ruigrok wasn’t sure what she wanted to do at first, but was recommended to try Recreation and Physiotherapy. She is currently placed at Grandview Lodge until January. She will accumulate 220 hours over two credits.
Grandview Lodge is a long term care facility located in Dunnville that provides 24 hour care to a diverse population of people ranging in age from 18 to over 100. The Supervisors at Grandview Lodge say that Ruigrok is a valuable asset to the lodge.
Her duties at the lodge include basic leg exercises, range of motion, and standing and walking exercises for physiotherapy. She also runs games and activities for residents. At the end of the day she must fill out log sheets specifying what she did that day and how many hours she put in. Her supervisor then signs the log sheet to verify her hours. "I enjoy co-op a lot," said Ruigrok. " It is a great experience for anyone and I recommend it."
"This program has allowed her to test drive her career and it helps a lot in decision making," said Co-op teacher Sharon McIntee.
