Lady Panthers Meet Their Match

The Dunnville Secondary School (DSS) Senior Girls Volleyball Team met their match against the Cayuga Secondary School (CSS) Girls on December 13th.
The DSS girls had an awesome start to the season by winning the best three games out of five against Hagersville Secondary (HSS) the week before. The Dunnville Panthers have shown their commitment to the team with practices twice a week, as well as their games, which sometimes overlap school hours and can be out of town.
The Cayuga Warriors really made the Panthers take a step back this week as they beat the girls in their home gym. CSS took a quick lead to the first game with a winning score of 25-16, but that didn’t stop the Panthers and they came back with a win of 25-22 the second game. At this point the next game was unpredictable as to who would win. Both teams were playing well defensively with awesome serves, good blocks and powerful hits. The game was close but CSS took another win with a score of 25-18. With CSS only needing one more win to take the best three out of five, the DSS girls needed to step up their game. Both teams played a competitive game, but the CSS girls still kept ahead with a score of 25-19 and took the last win they needed.
“Cayuga played very well,” said DSS player Hailey Hoffmann. “We definitely let Cayuga get ahead with our inconsistent serving and lack of setting up plays well. This isn’t anything we can’t work on, we’ll get them next time DSS!”
The season seems to be back and forth for the DSS girls as to how they will do. A strong effort has been made by the team and we will see what the next game brings as the girls play McKinnon Park on Friday, December 16th.
