A total of 43 Dunnville Secondary School (DSS) students travelled to the Toronto Metro Convention Center on Wednesday, February 22nd, to attend the annual Canadian International Auto Show, which is said to be the largest auto show in Canada. The auto show held room for a variety of different companies, from Acura all the way to Volkswagen and everything in between. The highlights of the show included the Bugatti Veyron, listed at an incredible two million dollars, the BMW Vision, and the new corvette.
The trip was partially funded for the students, but those enrolled in the Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) program got the advantage to attend the event free of charge. The students toured around the Convention Center with the option to participate in activities, ask questions, and sit in almost every car you could think of.
When asked about whether or not the trip was beneficial to school learning, DSS auto teacher, Glenn Peters responded, “Yes, it is very beneficial. The trip shows students the future of where the car industry is going.” He also explained, “The trip to the auto show always gives me very positive feedback. Auto motive students are very opinionated and the show brings up debates about certain companies. These conversations between students make the class much more interesting.”
Peters plans to attend this event with his students again next year, and for many more years to come.
