DSS Boys Hocket Team: AKA Zone Champions!

Mitchell Patterson

It was Wednesday, February 29th ;the ice was cold and the Boys Hockey team of Dunnville Secondary School (DSS) was ready to win it at the Zone Championship against McKinnon Park, at the Cayuga Arena. It was a tough game, but DSS pulled through with flying colours. The end score was two to nothing, due to the incredible play of the players and the amazing coaching of David McKinley and Mark McCormack. “The whole team played incredible,” McKinley proudly said after the team’s performance.  Goals were shot into the opponent's net by Mark Topp, assisted by Brandon Dear during first period, and in the second period another goal was scored by Josh Meeuwse who was assisted by Chad Springer. The team’s goalie Brandon White had an excellent performance. “He was the best on the ice that game; I don’t know what would have happened if Brandon wasn’t our goalie,” McKinley said about White’s ability to defend the net. Since the team took home the win, they were able to move on to the SOSSA championship on Thursday, March the 1st in Caledonia. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to move on to the next stage, which would have been OFSAA.
