Grade 11 Impresses at OFSAA Swim Meet

Dunnville Secondary School’s (DSS) grade 11 student, Travis Longland, competed at OFSAA from March 6th to 7th in Milton, ON. Competing with the top 30 swimmers in Ontario, Longland swam the 100 m butterfly and placed 28th, with a time of 1.10, as well as the 100m I.M. placing 23rd with 1.09. Longland faced both Grade 11 and 12 competitors, in the open category competition.
Longland was the first swimmer from DSS, in recent years to place and compete at an OFSAA swim meet.  DSS swimming coach, Mrs. Kim Rombough, had positive feedback about the competition saying, “It was a great experience, and we'll definitely capitalize on that for next year.”  For Longland, the meet was a successful and gratifying first experience.  “It was a great new experience,” said Longland, "and I will definitely comeback stronger, faster and more prepared for next year.”  Longland hopes to see more success with his teammates in the future for swimming at DSS and he plans to compete at OFSAA next season, with hopes of making the top 10. DSS congratulates Longland on his success at OFSAA, and will continue to encourage the DSS swimming team in the years to come.
