Dunnville Secondary School (DSS) soccer players are eager for the upcoming season. Both boys and girls soccer tryouts were held this past week. On Tuesday, March 27, boys soccer, despite the colder temperature, had their first official outdoor tryout. The tryout was held across the road from DSS in Lion's Park soccer field.
Any boys from grades 9 to 12 were welcome to come out to the tryout. Coach Andrew Spence talked enthusiastically prior to the tryout about the upcoming season.
Grade 12, senior player/ goalie Kevin Reid said, “I’m excited to finally be able to be out on the field instead of in the gym; soccer is just not the same without the dirt and the grass.”

On Wednesday, March 28 girls soccer got its turn to have an outside tryout. Girls from all grades 9-12, just the same as the boys, were welcome to attend this tryout. “There was an excellent turn out of girls; many were new and upcoming players which is great to see“, said coach Kim Rombough. The team has seemed to have lost half of their players from last year, so there is room for upcoming younger grade players. “This year should be interesting, but I am really looking forward to it," said Rombough. Girls soccer has their last tryout this coming Tuesday.
