On Thursday, March 8th a group of girls from Dunnville Secondary School (DSS) made their way to The Hope Centre in Welland to volunteer. The girls made pierogies topped with bacon and cheese, ceaser salad, and a pastry dessert. They cooked and slaved over the stove preparing meals for the less fortunate. After all was said and done they served the food out and were rewarded with smiles. By the end of the long night all the food was distributed among the people. They even sent food home in containers with various people. When asked why she does it Taylor Rowe, a volunteer at the centre said, “At first I just needed the volunteer hours to graduate, but after a while I couldn’t stop coming. It’s really rewarding seeing a smile on their faces. I enjoy helping others.” A group of five girls make their way to The Hope Centre once every month. The Hope Centre has been around for almost 40 years and have been providing the community with food, clothes and hope.
