Shake, Dance and Laugh at Zumba

The community danced their way to fitness on Thursday, April 26th, 2012, at Dunnville Secondary School’s (DSS) first ever Zumba-thon. After the event started the heat was on. Participants enjoyed an hour and a half of exhilarating, effective, easy-to-follow, and calorie-burning dance moves.
The event generated a total of 42 participants and raised $200, which will go towards student council. Student council finances many school events such as; school dances, grade 8 day, and sports.
Kim Rombough, organizer of the Zumba-thon and Zumba instructor, was disappointed with the lack of community involvement stating, “We are hoping to double the amount of participants next time and encourage more parents to get involved.” Rombough would like to remind the community that all males are welcome and encouraged to attend as well as all age groups. “I am happy with everyone that came out,” said Rombough. “We had a good time and a great workout!” she added.
Zumba has been proven to burn anywhere from 500-800 calories per workout and focuses on the entire body, so if you are looking for a good workout, the Zumba fitness program is waiting for you!
If you were unable to attend this event, you can come out to DSS for the next Zumba-thon on May 15th, 2012 from The event will be held in the main gym of the school at the low cost of $5 per individual and $10 per family of two or more. This is your chance to come out and experience the popular and fun workout of Zumba that everybody has been talking about.
