Stu Saunders Speaks at DSS

Carlin Dykstra

Be your own person and step out of the box. This was the message that Stu Saunders sent to the students of Dunnville Secondary School (DSS) on Wednesday, May 2, 2012.

Saunders was a guest speaker at DSS as part of the annual Grade 8 Day that the high school holds in order to make the incoming grade 8 students feel more comfortable about their transition into grade nine. The grade nine to twelve students also had the pleasure of hearing Saunders speak in two
time slots throughout the afternoon.

Saunders has been travelling all over North America speaking to over two million people since 1991. He has spoken in every province, the Yukon, Europe, and over forty states. Saunders is the founder and owner of Youth Leadership Camps Canada (YLCC) which is a summer leadership camp. He also runs the largest youth leadership conference in Canada, the Ontario Student Leadership
Conference (OSLC).

“It was a hilarious presentation with a good message about getting involved in your high school years,” said Ben Smith, Student Council Prime Minister.

Saunders' message revolves around being your own person and the importance of enjoying the things that you like to do. He also tells students to be the best that you can be and to get involved in things during high school.
